Kia ora tatou,
The Alert Level status quo announced by the Prime Minister on Monday has done nothing to ease the pressure on members, in fact for many the pressures caused by being unable to operate at anywhere near full capacity will only be exacerbated.
Continuing to offer support and advice to members, BNH recently hosted the HARBOUR HAPPY HOUR where 45 members joined an online forum to listen to subject-matter experts from the Ministry of Social Development, Pathfinder Solutions, Monsellier Law Employment, BNZ Partners and North Harbour Budgeting Services, all of whom we thank for their advice and insights. Addressing an array of topics from available financial support to financial advice and vaccination protocols for employers, the event proved to be very well received by attendees, so much so, that BNH is planning to host another meeting on the 28th October (register here).
It appears increasingly likely that the only way we are going to return to any sort of normality is by getting vaccination numbers over the 90% threshold that the Government has signalled. Like you all, I look forward to some positive changes in Alert Levels as soon as possible, so I once again encourage you to get vaccinated and to encourage your families and employees to follow your lead.
The team at BNH wish you all well, please don't hesitate to contact us if we can be of any assistance.
Ngā mihi mahana,
Kevin O'Leary General Manager, Business North Harbour

Vaccination Policies, what Employers should be doing now
|
The employment law issues facing businesses in 2021 are different in many ways from those that were faced by businesses in 2020. The introduction and roll-out of the vaccine in New Zealand (and worldwide) has thrown open the issue of to what extent an employer can require its workers to get vaccinated. Click here to read the answers to the following questions from Bronwen Newcombe, Director at Davenports Law.
1. Can I require certain roles to be carried out by vaccinated workers?
2. Can I ask my staff if they are vaccinated?
3. Should we introduce a Vaccination Policy?
4. Can I require new staff to be vaccinated?
A free webinar on Vaccination Policies is being run by Bronwen Newcombe tomorrow, Thursday 14th October at 12.00pm. Register here.

BNH AGM Postponement notification
|
Due to the ongoing Alert Level restrictions, the BNH AGM scheduled to be held on Thursday 21st October, will not be able to proceed as an in-person event and has now been re-scheduled to take place on Thursday 4th November.
We sincerely hope that Alert Level restrictions will allow for an in-person event at this time but if this is not the case, BNH is exploring the possibility of holding an online AGM instead. We will keep everyone fully informed regarding this option should the need arise, but in the meantime please register your AGM attendance here.

Workplace travel planning
|
If your organisation has a wide range of commuting patterns, one way to manage everyone’s needs is by creating a travel plan.
A workplace travel plan provides solutions to workplace transport issues. The result is greater choice for employees' journeys to work, better service for clients and visitors to the company, and more effective management of business travel and freight. Introducing a travel plan to your organisation or workplace can provide a wide range of benefits to both you and your staff. By reducing the number of vehicles going to your workplace and increasing accessibility through more travel options, organisations can:
• Save on car parking • Release land for development needs • Reduce the costs of running vehicle fleets • Improve staff productivity • Provide community and environmental benefits • Offer benefits to staff • Improve your company image
For more information and to find out how your organisation and staff can benefit, email Sarah de Zwart, BNH's Transport Manager here.
